Movie Finatics The Place for Movie Lovers
This film is an earnest attempt to make a medieval epic from a more feminist point of view. It takes a little bit to get into, but it becomes pretty effective when the movie doubles back on itself. Though the dialogue at times is a bit stilted and oddly delivered, the performances, by and large, are outstanding, especially Jodie Comer and Adam Driver. Ben Affleck is also swinging for the fences playing a despicable character no matter the perspective. A strange blending of genre and themes aside, it still is ultimately intriguing and well crafted enough.
